Accede Mold & Tool Co. Inc. has beefed up its mold sampling capabilities by installing an Engel duo injection molding machine 720 tons of clamping force, its biggest press.
Rochester, N.Y.-based Accede Mold invested more than $500,000 for the machine and crane system.
"For years our customers have been challenging us to build larger higher-cavitation molds for the packaging sector," Accede President Roger Fox said. "The global market continues to grow and we are committed to supporting our customers with high-quality molds to meet product demands. In-house validation of those molds is a must."
The Engel duo press, installed in October, has a 43.3-inch die bar spacing and a 56.7-inch vertical platen size, giving a 33 percent increase in the overall mold size Accede can validate in-house.
Accede makes molds and in-mold rotary systems for the medical, pharmaceutical and labware market, consumer products and packaging including caps and closures, and industry, automotive and military. The company's work includes multi-shot molds.
Including the Engel machine, the mold maker has seven injection molding machines from 80-720 tons. Other brands include Demag, Van Dorn and Athena.
