Dutch chemical company Royal DSM is expanding its high-performance plastics production in Europe in response to strong customer demand.
DSM Engineering Plastics announced Nov. 27 that it was expanding production at its sites in Emmen and Geleen, the Netherlands, for high temperature nylons and thermoplastic copolyesters (TPC) with this expansion.
The plan comes on the back of “solid growth” in the consumer electronics and automotive markets, and the related increasing demand for high performance plastics including brand names Stanyl, ForTii, EcoPaXX and Arnitel.
According to the DSM news release, the company has already successfully completed expansion projects for Stanyl, ForTii and EcoPaXX product streams by 50 percent while a 25 percent production capacity expansion for Arnitel will come online in 2018.
The company did not give further details on size of the investment and production volumes.
DSM said the investment underlines its commitment to the industry and is aimed at improving its long-term position in the high-performance plastics market.
