There will be a changing of the guard at Sonoco Products Co. with the pending retirement of CEO Jack Sanders.
The Hartsville, S.C.-based company will elevate current Chief Operating Officer Rob Tiede to the role and named him CEO-elect.
Sanders, who has been with Sonoco for 30 years, will retire effective April 2, 2018.
Sonoco makes a wide variety of consumer packaging, industrial products, protective packaging and displays. The company has been receiving attention recently for its TruVue plastic can that aims to replace steel food cans on store shelves.
TruVue is part of Sonoco Plastics, which makes products including trays and bowls, tubs, tubes and cores, reels, automotive components and medical devices and disposables.
Another division, Sonoco Recycling, also handles a variety of materials, including plastics.
Sanders has been CEO since 2013.
