Starlinger & Co. GmbH, the manufacturer of machinery for making woven plastic bags, hosted an event called “Dynamic Days” Oct. 23-24 in Weissenbach, Austria, as Starlinger opened the new headquarters of its recycling technology division.
About 200 people attended the event. The recycling division is near Starlinger's main plant. The building is heated with 100 percent renewable energy.
The first day, presentations focused on odor reduction in polyolefins and polyester. PP regrind was processed on a recoSTAR recycling line. Visitors saw a unit, which has already been sold, with a smell extraction feature that was running in one of the assembly halls. Second-day presentations covered recycling of PE bottles to fibers. Starlinger ran the system using one of its Rapid Sleeve Changer filters, which filters the recycled material without the need to stop production.
Dynamic Days concluded with a visit to Starlinger's PET Competence Center, where recycled PET flakes were used for the production of tapes for woven fabric.
Starlinger's U.S. operation is in Fountain Inn, S.C.
