Injection molder Takahata Precision Tennessee Inc. is expanding, adding equipment and creating jobs at its facility in Helenwood, Tenn.
The $9.7 million investment includes new equipment and a 13,000-square-foot addition to the facility. The company said it will also create 81 new jobs as part of the expansion. The Tennessee facility currently employs 290 workers.
“Takahata Precision Tennessee Inc. is excited to move forward with this new expansion in Scott County,” said Debra Thompson, Takahata's president, in a Dec. 13 news release. “This will be our third expansion and will produce more than 80 jobs for the local community.”
Takahata did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.
Takahata molds automotive parts, office automation equipment, measuring equipment and medical care equipment, among other products. Its parent company, the Takahata Precision Japan Co. Ltd., is based in Yamanashi, Japan, and has 14 facilities worldwide in Asia, Australia and the United States.
