Orlando, Fla. — Arkema Inc. of King of Prussia, Pa., is moving forward with its Elium-brand room-temperature liquid thermoplastic resin line in the wind power, automotive component and building-construction target markets.
The resin is suitable for production of continuous glass or carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites. The parts can have mechanical properties similar to epoxy composites while offering the advantages of being recyclable and suitable for additional processing after thermoforming.
Use of a match-mold aluminum tool can yield an aesthetically pleasing surface on both sides, Dana Swan, Arkema business development manager, said in an interview during CAMX, Dec. 11-15 in Orlando.
Arkema introduced the Elium line in 2013.
