Compounding extruder maker Japan Steel Works Ltd. has opened a technical center in Germany, in a new industrial park in the Benrath area of Düsseldorf — just a 25-minute drive from the airport from Messe Düsseldorf, where the triennial K fair is held.
Japan Steel Works Europe GmbH is using the location for its TEXenter extrusion technical center. JSW makes TEX brand compounding extruders.
The facility is equipped with technology for research and development on extrusion processes, compounding, chemical reaction, dewatering, devolatizing, pelletizing and other areas. The latest type, TEX44aIII twin-screw extruder, with a 47-milleter screw diameter and what JSW claims is the world's highest torque density, is available for high-end compounding trials. The high torque allows the extruder to run at lower screw speeds, and as a result, lower polymer temperatures, so better product quality can be obtained, the company said.
JSW also has other extruders at the Düsseldorf tech center, which replaces a facility in Overpelt, Belgium.
