Compounding extruder maker KraussMaffei Berstorff is gaining new business in Russia and countries in the CIS region as the Munich-based company sees a recovering economy.
Tehstroj, a Russian extruder of high density polyethylene water and gas pipes, has upgraded its existing single-layer-pipe extrusion line to make single-layer pipe with the company's three-layer head concept. The extruder/pipe head combination includes two KME 38-30 B/R single-screw extruders and the KM-3L-RKW 74-400 pipe head — equipped with the IPC internal pipe cooling system. Tehstroj can increase output to make two- and three-layer pipes made of HDPE and stress-resistant polyethylene.
The machinery will be installed in early 2018.
In addition, Russian-based Polymer Compound, a maker of compounds for window seals, hoses, cables and special applications, began producing material in mid-2017 on a KMD 114-26 G-W twin-screw extruder.
And long-time KraussMaffei Berstorff customer Akfa in Uzbekistan is expanding its window profile operation — ordering 10 twin-screw extruders in the XS series. The machines will begin operating in mid-2018.
Art Plast, based in Tahkent, has purchased three KMD 90-32 profile extruders from KraussMaffei Berstorff. Beginning in the spring of 2018, the lines will extrude window profiles.
