Extrusion tooling manufacturer Guill Tool & Enginering Co. has opened an in-house rheology laboratory at its headquarters in West Warwick, R.I.
The lab will allow Guill to minimize the time between testing and production, and obtain better results. The facility has several machines for testing materials, especially new compounds to be extruded. Equipment includes a hybrid rotational rheometer, a differential scanning calorimeter and a thermal conductivity meter.
Guill can gather data the same way a third-party testing facility can, but also interpret that information as it applies specifically to extrusion. Guill also can work with customers to use the test data to build extrusion tooling.
Guill's rheology lab also is equipped to mix materials, include plastics, thermoplastic elastomers, all types of rubber and silicone.
