Masco Corp. has picked up a pair of Ohio companies, including Mercury Plastics Inc., a pipe, profile and tubing extruder.
It lso announced its acquisition of Independence, Ohio-based Kichler Lighting, Jan. 8. Terms were not disclosed.
Masco of Livonia, Mich., is a publicly traded holder of a variety of companies geared toward home repair and construction brands, among them Behr paint; Delta and Hansgrohe faucets, bath and shower fixtures; KraftMaid and Merillat cabinets; Milgard windows and doors; and Hot Spring spas.
Middlefield-based Mercury manufactures water handling systems for appliance and faucet applications, as well as other highly engineered plumbing products, tubing, and assemblies.It had revenues of about $45 million in 2017 and employs 300 people, Masco said. Mercury will become part of Masco's Plumbing Products segment.
Mercury had an estimated $48 million in sales for 2016 in the most recent Plastics News ranking of pipe, profile and tubing extruders. It has about 250 employees at two plants in Middlefield.
Kichler is a developer of decorative residential and light commercial lighting products, ceiling fans and LED lighting systems for consumer and professional distribution channels, with sales of about $450 million in 2017 and 700 employees worldwide.
"We are excited about the prospects of expanding Masco's reach into the fragmented $6 billion U.S. residential lighting industry," said Masco President and CEO Keith Allman, in a statement on the Kichler acquisition.
Allman said in the release that he will provide "a more in-depth update on these transactions" in the comapny's fourth-quarter earnings conference call, set for Feb. 8.
