Chicago-based packaging company Coveris Holdings SA has introduced Jakob A. Mosser as its new CEO, effective Jan. 8.
Mosser will take over the CEO responsibilities from interim CEO Dimitri Panayotopoulos, who will continue to serve the company as chairman.
The appointment came nearly a year after former Coveris CEO Gary Masse announced his decision to step down in January 2017.
Mosser has more than 30 years of experience with a number of senior leadership roles in the packaging industry, both in Europe and North America, Coveris said in a Dec. 20 news release.
In 2006, Mosser successfully restructured Unterland, resulting in a sale of the business to Mondi.
After serving as CEO for the consumer flexibles division of Mondi for a few years, he founded Schur Flexibles and helped the company grow into one of the top 10 flexible packaging business in Europe.
In 2016 Schur Flexibles was sold successfully to the private equity fund Lindsay Goldberg. Mosser continued in his position as CEO of the company until making the move to Coveris.
Coveris also named a new chief financial officer. Markus Petersen takes over the spot after serving as CFO of European healthcare business Aenova Group. He replaces Mike Alger, who become CFO for Coveris Americas business unit.
