Portugese startup company Ironjaw LDA says it has a system that can boost the clamping force of an injection molding machine, saving thousands of dollars a month per machine, according to the company.
The Lisbon-based company uses a system of steel jaws to clamp around the mold. The company says the system can boost clamp tonnage by up to 60 percent, depending on the configuration.
“For example, if a converter uses a 160-ton injection machine instead of a 320-ton machine to produce the same part with the same mold, the hourly rate is considerably reduced,” said Rui Miranda, business development manager at Ironjaw.
