Westfall Technik buys two California companies

Westfall Technik Inc., a holding company formed in late 2017, has purchased two speedy California companies that offer rapid prototyping and short-run molding for medical, industrial and consumer goods industries.

Westfall announced Feb. 9 it has acquired 10 Day Parts Inc., formerly known as Advanced Technology Inc., in Corona, and Hayward-based Elfy's Inc. Both companies bring more than 300 new customer relationships, early product development support, good reputations and engineering talent to Westfall, officials said.

Terms were not disclosed.

Las Vegas-based Westfall Technik now owns four plastics companies. In October, the holding firm bought Fairway Injection Molds Inc. of Walnut, Calif., and Integrity Mold Inc. of Tempe, Ariz. Westfall, founded by plastics industry veteran Brian Jones, is building a group of companies to focus on medical, packaging and consumer goods markets.

Rick Shaffer, Westfall's managing director, said all four companies will work together, offering a wide range of capabilities.

10 Day Parts does what its name says. Using 3D part files, the company can build tooling and provide molded parts within 10 business days. The mold can run 2 million shots, according to the company. Shaffer said 10 Day Parts runs six small-tonnage injection molding machines.

Shaffer said Westfall has formally changed the name of Advanced Technology to 10 Day Parts, which is prominently displayed on the company's website. Molding Business Services of Florence, Mass., represented Advanced Technology in the sale.

Elfy's has eight small-tonnage injection presses, and does molded prototypes, tooling designs and CAD-CAM models, as well as production-volume parts. The firm works with customers to get functional prototypes with lead times of two weeks or less.

Shaffer said Elfy's founder, Elias "Elfy" Eleftheriades, will remain with the company. He said Steve Riddle, vice president of operations at 10 Day Parts and the son of the company's founder, also will continue at the business.
