Private investment group Capital Partners LLC has purchased Ohio-based flexible packaging company Flavorseal LLC for its M&Q Holdings LLC business.
The acquisition was effective Feb. 8. Flavorseal president and CEO Chris Carroll said the sales price was not being disclosed.
Flavorseal, based in Avon, Ohio, will operate under its own name and with existing management. Capital Holdings, based in Norwalk, Conn., has two other packaging firms within M&Q Holdings: M&Q Packaging LLC, with manufacturing in Pennsylvania, and Outlook Group LLC, a flexible packing business with operations in Neenah, Wis.
A representative at M&Q Packaging LLC said the company had no further comment.
Flavorseal has shrink wrap packaging, netting, bags and pouches, with a growing business that combines packaging with spices and herbs to add flavor to meats for home cooks.
M&Q Packaging has films for food packaging and other applications while Outlook Group has both flexible film and paperboard rigid packaging.
Carroll described all three companies as being in the middle market. Flavorseal has more than 100 employees.
M&Q Holdings will operate Flavorseal as Flavorseal LLC, a division of M&Q Holdings LLC, and keep the operations in Avon. Carroll will remain on as president and CEO of Flavorseal.
M&Q Holdings said in a news release that it was most excited about the Flavorseal's "Seasoning Transfer Technology," which incorporates seasonings and flavors into various forms of flexible packaging for its food processing customers.
"We truly believe that Flavorseal's Seasoning Transfer Technology will revolutionize the way packaging is utilized in the protein and food industries," M&Q Holdings president and CEO Michael Schmal said in the release.
"Instead of just protecting and extending shelf life of food products, Seasoning Transfer Technology allows the packaging to become an integral part of the product itself, by enhancing the appearance, quality, taste and aroma to food," he said. "We think this technology has the potential to dramatically change the food processing industry, and we are fortunate that Chris and Colleen Carroll, who are the owners and founders of Flavorseal, chose M&Q to be their partner to accelerate this transformation."
