The dean of one of the University of Akron's most recognizable colleges is stepping down.
Eric J. Amis will step down as dean of the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, the university announced in an email to faculty and staff. He will "relinquish" that title effective June 30, the email stated, but will continue on as a tenured professor of polymer science.
Amis has been dean of the college since July 15, 2014.
"I have collective pride in all that the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering has accomplished, as well as personal pride in our accomplishments together during my leadership as the dean of the College," Amis said in the email.
Rex Ramsier, the university's senior vice president and provost, will put together a transition plan for the college. A reason for the change was not given in the email.
