Grand Rapids, Mich. — Donations from members of the American Mold Builders Association and other supporters were used to purchase 139 personalized iPads for wounded veterans of the U.S. armed forces, under the iWarriors program.
Husband-and-wife team Tim and Kim Bartz reported the progress at AMBA's conference. Since they started the program in 2011, supporters of iWarriors have donated more than $396,000.
AMBA members hold a golf scramble, charity runs and other activities to support the effort.
Each soldier gets a personally engraved, Wi-Fi-enabled iPad Air2, an OtterBox protective case, ear buds and an iTunes gift card. The iPads help the service members stay in touch with family and friends who are miles away while they undergo months, and in some cases years of treatment at the hospital.
Tom Bartz is the co-owner of Mold Craft Inc. in Willernie, Minn.
