Long Beach, Calif. — Molders who have invested heavily in Industry 4.0, with high-end diagnostics systems, should plan on making sure their production systems are understood by customers.
Jason Holbrook, a regional sales manager based in Toledo, Ohio, for KraussMaffei Corp., said that machine makers with advanced online diagnostics systems need to clearly communicate about their security protocols to customers.
“It's a basic problem” that ultimately requires a provider to convince a customer's information-technology guardian, Holbrook said during the Molding 2018 Conference in Long Beach.
“We start with the production staff and go for clarity,” he said. “Then you need to sit down and convince the IT guy.”
