Federal and state authorities searched a nylon resin plant operated by AdvanSix Inc. March 13 in Hopewell, Va.
In a pair of news releases, officials with AdvanSix in Parsippany, N.J., said that the firm was cooperating with law enforcement and that the search and a subpoena that was served "appear to relate" to the facility's environmental air emissions and its compliance under a 2013 consent decree with the federal government and the state of Virginia.
Officials added that production across its sites was not affected by these events, and that AdvanSix "expects to continue operating safely at plan moving forward."
AdvanSix was formed in late 2016 when Honeywell International Inc. spun off its resins and chemicals business. The firm is a leading supplier of nylon 6 resin, as well as caprolactam and related chemicals. AdvanSix also makes nylon 6 film.
In 2017, AdvanSix posted sales of almost $1.5 billion, up 24 percent vs. 2016. The firm employs 1,500 at four U.S. production sites and at research labs in the U.S. and China.
