Who doesn't like to open a package?
And with the explosion of e-commerce it recent years, most of us are opening more and more deliveries.
One protective packaging firm is setting out to make the experience of cracking open those packages even more enjoyable.
Pregis LLC is out with a new line called Inspyre "with a spectrum of color possibilities to help enhance the customer experience," the company said.
The first product from Inspire is a 12-inch-wide low density polyethylene hybrid cushioning packaging film that will initially come in water blue. Other colors will be possible in the future, Pregis said.
"As e-commerce continues to grow, brands have less opportunity to physically connect with their customers, oftentimes making the first connection when the product is delivered. In most cases, that product is wrapped with packaging that's clear or neutral, offering the protection needed, but not really enhancing the unboxing experience," Pregis Product Manager Clint Smith said in a statement.
"Inspyre changes that by using color to heighten the connection between the brand and the consumer," Smith said.
Pregis hybrid cushioning uses flat rollstock with air chambers that is mounted onto the company's AirSpeed HC Versa system that fills the pockets with air. The resulting packaging is used to protect products during delivery.
"For many of us, opening a delivered package evokes the same kind of excitement that used to only happen when opening a gift. It's why so many people capture their unboxing experiences and share them on social media. Adding more color to the mix is just one more way for brand owners to delight and connect with their customers," Smith said.
"We also see curated color options as a way for companies to signal their participation in 'cause' marketing campaigns and other promotions," he said.
