Japanese automotive supplier Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd. has established a new plant in the city of Inabe, Japan, to produce high pressure hydrogen tanks, a crucial component of fuel cell vehicles.
The Kiyosu, Japan-based company said in a March 14 statement that preparations for the start of production “are currently underway.”
According to Toyoda Gosei, capacity at plant will be built up “gradually” to meet growth in demand with the expected increase in number of fuel cell vehicle models as these vehicles come into wider use.
Toyoda Gosei has increased its investment in products for automotive electrification, including development of lightweight parts.
The company expects to leverage its strengths as a specialist in the field of rubber and plastics.
