Arburg GmbH + Co. KG has won a design for its new large injection molding press, the hybrid Allrounder 1120 H.
The annual award is given by the independent design institute The IF International Forum Design GmbH in Hanover, Germany.
The sleek-looking injection press won in the product area within the office and industry category.
The Allrounder 1120 H, with a clamping force is 650 metric tons, has significantly expanded Arburg's product range. For the design, in addition to an aesthetic appeal, modern color scheme and shape, the machine offers enhanced functionality and significantly improved ergonomics, according to the machinery maker in Lossburg, Germany.
Design Tech, a designer in Ammerbuch, Germany, helped Arburg with the design, submitted the application for the award.
Juliana Hehl, Arburg managing partner responsible for marketing, said the machinery maker has emphasized good design for decades. She said Arburg's first injection molding machine was continuously improved back in the 1950s using a wooden model.
Arburg changed its machinery colors in 1995 to the combination of mint green and canary yellow used currently.
“The next decisive step after a little over 20 years has now been to get design experts on board in addition to our own technology experts, from the outset during the development of the new large Allrounder 1120 H, because for us partners it was clear from the beginning that this flagship machine for our company also needed to feature a visionary design,” Hehl said.
The Allrounder 1120 H debuted at K 2016.
