Milan-based Negri Bossi SpA is debuting its Nova eT all-electric machine range to the North American market for the first time at NPE2018.
The presses — available in models from 50-350 metric tons — can achieve energy savings of up to 80 percent compared with conventional hydraulic machines, the company said.
From Booth W363, the Italian machinery maker's U.S. and Canadian subsidiary Negri Bossi North America Inc. will have a 180-tonne Nova eT all- electric injection molding machine on display. Operations for Negri Bossi North America are in New Castle, Del.
The 180-tonne press, designed for key markets such as medical and packaging, will produce a four-cavity food container lid with in-mold labeling in a cycle time of three seconds at NPE. The machine will also be equipped with a high-speed side-entry robot supplied by Negri Bossi sister company Sytrama.
"The machine is equipped with a new Smart Flex 2 locking unit with a different toggle geometry designed to be coupled specifically with electric closing and to have characteristics optimized to its target market," Negri Bossi Group CEO Craig Ward said in a March 27 news release.
The Nova eT is the company's fourth-generation all-electric injection molding machine and features a controller with a new multitouch platform, enabling swipe and scroll gestures.
