Netstal's high-speed packaging machine, Elios, will make its U.S. trade show debut at NPE2018.
At the Bottle Zone in the South Hall (Booth S16088), Netstal will show how the press can mold preforms for carbonated soft drinks and barrier containers for dairy products.
At KraussMaffei Group (Booth W403), Netstal will show a 750-metric-ton Elion molding 16-ounce delicatessen containers in a 3.1-second cycle, running an eight-by-eight cavity StackTeck mold. A CBW robot will remove the parts.
Netstal offers the Elios in four clamping forces, of 450, 550, 650 and 750 tonnes. A range of injection units and screw diameters, and the modular design, allow customers to tailor the Elios to a wide range of applications.
Elios machines have a newly developed hybrid drive concept on the clamping unit, with a five-point, dual-toggle lever.
Netstal launched the Elios at K2016. "The series is proving to be very popular on the North American market," said Matt Membrino, sales manager for Netstal USA.
Also at NPE, a fully electric, clean room version of the Elion will pump out 128 medical pipettes per shot, every 5.6 seconds, running a Tanner mold — that's more than 82,000 parts per hour. The automation system is from Zubler Handling.
Netstal can outfit its clean room presses with a patented "Clean Purge" nozzle extractor hood, a laminar flow hood, galvanically sealed mold plates, additional cover plates and closing drag chains.
Netstal also is active in Industry 4.0. The company will debut e-Service, a way to directly get access to machine-specific documents, order spare parts and more. Netsal's cloud-based AnalytiX production monitoring system is available using a new app on a smartphone or tablet.
