Lincolnshire, Ill. — Flexan LLC is expanding its contract manufacturing services for the medical device industry with the acquisition of IntroMed LLC.
Based in Salt Lake City, IntroMed manufactures patent protected sheath introducers used in catheter placements. The firm's products benefit from a unique movable valve design.
IntroMed was founded in 2005 by Ron Wortley, Dave Wortley and Eric King. Financial details were not disclosed.
"We are thrilled to once again partner with Flexan," IntroMed Managing Partner Eric King said in a statement. "The combination with Medron and the rest of the Flexan organization will bring significant value to our existing and new customers."
Flexan has been busy on the acquisition front. In December 2016, the firm added Medron LLC, a medical device contract manufacturing services company that offers a range of outsourcing services, including high volume manufacturing, customer private label capability, design engineering, product development and prototyping.
It works with a variety of materials, primarily urethanes and thermoplastics at its two facilities in Salt Lake City.
"We are excited to add IntroMed's capabilities and technology to our array of contract manufacturing services," Jim Fitzgerald, president and CEO of Flexan, said in a statement. "Similar to the acquisition of Medron, IntroMed has a reputation for providing innovative, high quality products and components to medical device OEMs."
Based in Lincolnshire, Flexan is a global manufacturer of high-precision silicone, rubber and thermoplastic components and extruded products. The firm's FMI and Medron brands deliver custom contract manufacturing services, including molding, extrusion and assembly for all classes of medical devices.
Flexan is a portfolio company of Linden Capital Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm focused exclusively on leveraged buyouts in the health care and life sciences industries.
