Nordson Corp. will display its redesigned modular BKG NorCon EH-brand slide plate screen changers at NPE2018 (Booth W2525).
Nordson's extensive experience with slide plate designs extends to the 1990s under Xaloy Superior Holdings Inc., which Nordson acquired in 2012.
The updated design streamlines the screen changer's operation, improves availability to optional features and dramatically reduces order lead times from the industry's typical six-eight weeks.
For extrusion line connections, Nordson offers a NorCon EH-U version to meet U.S. requirements and a NorCon EH-E model for Europe and Asia regional needs.
A detachable control can be affixed to the screen changer or connected via a cable permitting remote operator control.
Six platforms cover a range of bore sizes, screen diameters, heater requirements and unit weights.
Nordson's polymer processing systems unit manufactures the BKG NorCon equipment in Münster, Germany, and recently began assembly of BKG screen changers at the company's facility in Shanghai.
Xaloy developed its first EH model slide plate design and made beta-site installations on about eight machines in the U.S. in advance of the product's NPE1997 introduction.
The current NorCon EH-U and EH-E units represent redesigns of that established screen changer.
Other Nordson auxiliary equipment in its NPE2018 booth will include plasticating cylinders, liners and screws; gear and melt pumps; heaters; injection molding machine nozzles and non-return valves; melt-filtration materials and equipment; extrusion dies; fluid coating dies; pelletizers; screw tips; and centrifugal dryers.
