Universal Dynamics Inc. (Booth W1923) is ramping up production of material handling systems, dryers, loaders, blenders, chillers and granulators at its new larger site in Fredericksburg, Va. The equipment is marketed mostly under the Una-Dyn, AutoLoad and AutoGrind brands.
While staying in Virginia, the business unit of auxiliary equipment firm Piovan SpA relocated about 35 miles during 2017 to Fredericksburg from its previous facility in Woodbridge. The newly outfitted structure occupies 110,000 square feet and is comparable to other Piovan facilities in Europe, Asia and South America.
The global Piovan group of Santa Maria di Sala, Italy, reported sales during 2017 of a record $253 million (211 million euros).
The NPE2018 exhibit will display Piovan's new line of Quantum batch blenders, Easylink automatic distribution solutions and Pureflo filterless receivers. Operating control panels will help in envisioning the equipment in use.
Piovan-branded granulators will include models with a disposable knife system that allows cost savings through use of CPM10V tool steel for longer knife life.
Una-Dyn-brand drying systems will include Automate loaders with an adaptive multiple hopper central drying system and Vantage series energy-efficient dryers.
Piovan's industrial cooling brand Aquatech will have the first U.S. showing of its Easycool+ line of air and water cooled chillers. In addition, the Aryacool drycooler can meet the needs of various industrial processes. The DigitempEvo thermochiller unit is available as a flexible heating or cooling solution.
Una-Dyn regards its Nextherm advanced mold temperature control as a breakthrough system that can significantly reduce cycle times and guarantee a mold temperature so accurate that waste is reduced.
For powder and PVC treatment, the Piovan Fdm unit's design solution works for precision blending. An innovative fully functional Penta system can convey powders in a newly developed dense-phase vacuum system that ensures gentle handling of susceptible materials. Penta is a Piovan company.
A special room with touchscreen monitors will show the latest developments involving Industry 4.0 requirements.
Una-Dyn is launching its latest FACS 4.0 state-of-the-art auxiliary equipment control and monitoring system. That system will work in conjunction with Piovan's Winfactory 4.0 supervisory smart-factory software that is compliant under the Open Platform Communication-Unified Architecture protocol.
Both FACS 4.0 and Winfactory 4.0 can help plastics processors transition from a traditional factory setup to one in which computers and automation provide comprehensive control and monitoring.
In addition, Piovan offers its Winenergy system with software and hardware components for monitoring and analyzing a plant's energy consumption. A team at Piovan company Energys srl in Santa Maria di Sala developed the technology to capture data related to electricity, thermal energy, fluid and gas flow rates and temperature.
