Profile and sheet extruder Fabricated Extrusion Co. LLC has opened an Eastern U.S. operation in Hagerstown, Md.
The company, based in Modesto, Calif., plans to create 50 new full-time jobs in Hagerstown by 2022, according to a news release from Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan.
"Expanding our manufacturing facility to Hagerstown gives [Fabricated Extrusion] the opportunity to better service the East Coast," President Jeff Aichele said in a news release.
"Hagerstown specifically is uniquely positioned in terms of convenient transportation access and a talented workforce, along with local resources and support for new business."
Fabricated Extrusion runs two extrusion operations, in Modesto and in Bolivar, Mo. Plastics News data estimates its profile and tubing annual sales at $24 million. Seventeen extrusion lines and 60 employees at the two facilities make custom profiles and sheet for agriculture, construction, light-rail transit, medical, refrigeration, transportation and other markets.
Its capabilities include custom compounding, dual-hardness extrusions and finishing operations such as heat sealing, CNC routing, drilling and die-cutting, the company states on its website. It processes various thermoplastics including PVC, ABS, polyolefins, thermoplastic polyurethane and thermoplastic and vulcanizate elastomers. Its proprietary products include extruded single- and dual-hardness gasket stock in more than 100 configurations.
The project in Hagerstown qualifies for a $166,667 conditional loan from the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and a $50,000 conditional job creation loan from Washington County. The state's Job Creation Tax Credit also offers various tax credits.
