Westlake, Texas-based Pipeline Plastics LLC is building a new facility on the Southeast coast of the U.S. and adding capacity at two existing manufacturing plants in Levelland, Texas, and Belle Fourche, S.D.
The high density polyethylene pipe producer says the multifacility expansion plan is part of a long-term strategy to get products to customers in the municipal, industrial and oil-and-gas gathering markets in all regions of the country and abroad.
The company says its fourth location will be up and running in the third quarter of 2019 but has not disclosed the city or state.
Pipeline spokesperson Patricia Isbell said in an email that the geographic expansion eastward is to serve customers in the water and international markets. Pipeline's products are used for municipal drinking water and sewer applications and for industrial and mining applications involving harsh temperature, terrain and pressure conditions.
The company's expansion plan also calls for "multiple" new 1,000-millimeter pipe extrusion lines, which machine maker KraussMaffei Berstorff GmbH says have been purchased and will be operational in Levelland by the end of the year and in Belle Fourche in early 2019.
Pipeline Plastics is increasing capacity for HDPE pipes 16 inches and larger in Texas and South Dakota to meet growing demand from oil, gas and municipal customers, Isbell said.
The Levelland expansion in west Texas includes a high-capacity extruder for 12 to 36 inch diameter pipe sizes. The facility currently is one of the largest PE pipe plants in the U.S. with a product line that goes up to 65 inches in diameter.
The South Dakota plant will get an extrusion line for 12-inch to 36-inch diameter products.
Pipeline Plastics already equipped its facility in Decatur, Texas, with KraussMaffei Berstorff machines, according to the subsidiary of KraussMaffei Group, which is based in Munich.
Pipeline is in the midst of a plan aimed at offering service and products from coast to coast, Vice President of Sales Mary Houston said in a news release.
With an estimated $95 million in annual sales, Pipeline Plastics is the 43rd largest pipe, profile and tubing extruder in North America, according to Plastics News' latest ranking.
