Pretium Packaging LLC took home "Best of Show" honors at the recent Institute of Packaging Professionals Ameristar packaging awards.
The company reports its SureHandle PET bottle, with an integrated handle, also won the non-alcoholic beverages and shelf stable foods categories.
"The Best of Show Award honors a package that surpasses all judging criteria and that judges unanimously rated 'outstanding' in every category," said Jane Chase, executive director of IoPP in a statement.
Pretium said the SureHandle is the "first-of-its-kind" bottle. The SureHandle preform has an injection molded handle integrated into its side wall, the company said. The preform is then blow molded.
Chesterfield, Mo.-based Pretium makes more than 2 billion PET and high density polyethylene containers at 16 locations in the United States and Canada each year.
