Bill Wood's article about the construction market ("Strong first quarter points to accelerating construction market," April 23, Page 10) points out a problem that we face all across America. His last paragraph states: "I would move out there [the West] myself if I thought they would find enough water in the next 20 years to supply all these new apartments they are building."
One of the easiest ways to "find" that water is to stop the loss of water from the leaking pipelines. This can be achieved through the leak-free performance of high density polyethylene pipe due to fusion-welded joints that diminish loss and eliminate the need for an acceptable leak rate. Add to that a 100-plus-year service life and the choice for a sustainable alternative to legacy materials, like ductile iron, becomes obvious.
