Greiner Assistec started molding at a new LSR competence center in Sankt Gallen, Austria, in June 2015, a site set up to respond to increased demand for silicone components. Greiner Assistec can mold LSR parts up to 200 grams shot weight there, and temper them too.
"LIM [liquid injection molding] allows us to expand our technology reach, solidifying our presence in the market as a complete system supplier, said Wolfgang Rotschopf, sales director. "The large number of enquiries from both here in Austria and abroad tell us that we are on the right track."
Greiner Assistec perceives international benefits through solid embedment of its corporate association with Greiner Packaging. Work with Greiner Packaging Kavo in molding LSR teats for Kavoblow injection stretch blow molded polypropylene bottles has paid off in a redesign by Dorel Industries Inc. of Westmount, Quebec, for its Bébé Confort-brand bottles intended for infants.
Bébé Confort standard teats have been produced in LSR in France. But the more unusual Perfect Sense teats are made in Sankt Gallen, supported by system supplier competence with its Kavoblow injection stretch molding capability.
Perfect Sense teats have a more complex shape that brings anti-colic and anti-regurgitation features and that also enables tongue movements like with breast feeding: this "enables natural transition from breast feeding to bottle feeding," Dorel claims.
The new design Bébé Confort bottles have gone on commercial sale in France in Spring 2018, and are also being exported to a number of other countries. Aside from the key LSR teat, the new Bébé Confort PP bottles have a molded "Easyclip" leak-free plastic closure that can be flicked off using just one hand.
Dorel Senior Buyer Dimitar Georgiev said of the complete bottle development with Greiner, "It's a huge advantage for us if we can efficiently complete a project with Greiner as a single complete solution partner."
