Auto supplier Varroc Lighting Systems Inc. has opened a production facility in Vietnam.
The facility, located roughly 30 minutes outside of Hanoi, will house production for its two-wheeler lighting business Triom SpA.
The facility will employ around 120, the company said.
"Our presence in Vietnam with Triom has been very successful over the past five years," Stephane Vedie, Varroc Lighting Systems' president and CEO, said in a June 27 news release. "With this expansion, we now have an opportunity to build on that success. Our new facility puts us in a strong competitive position to support new and existing two-wheel and four-wheel customers in the [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] region."
Triom has headquarters in Cambiano, Italy, and makes headlights, taillights, blinkers and other plastic components.
India-based parent company Varroc Group, which makes exterior lighting systems, body and chassis parts, powertrains and electrical and electronic components, acquired a majority stake in the Italian lighting supplier in 2012.
Varroc Lighting, a former unit of Visteon Corp., manufactures exterior front and rear lighting as well as auxiliary lamps and subcomponents, such as projectors and electronic modules. The company is based in Plymouth, Mich., and employs more than 7,200 worldwide.
