A July 5 fire destroyed playground equipment maker the Superior Recreational Products plant in Carrollton, Ga.
Superior Recreational Products was purchased by Playcore Holdings Inc. a year ago. Superior, like other units of Playcore, makes playground equipment using metal and plastic components, including rotationally molded items.
Media reports said the 80,000-square-foot building burned to the ground. Two employees were inside the building when it caught fire in the evening, and they escaped without injury, according to local television coverage.
News coverage said firefighters were still on the scene the following morning putting out hot spots. Investigators will try to determine the cause of the blaze after the fire is entirely extinguished.
Firefighters were unable to put out the fire until it had raged for about three hours, collapsing the roof and gutting the building, reports said.
The Carrollton Fire Department did not return a call for this story. The local plant could not be reached. Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Playcore did not a return a call on deadline for this story.
