Novi, Mich. — Grand Rapids, Mich.-based mold maker Krieger Craftsmen Inc. has created a J-Flex division for the specialized manufacturing of mold inserts to produce reflector lenses for the automotive and trucking industries.
Greg Krammen, who has a long background in the process, explained how it works at Krieger's booth during the Amerimold conference in Novi.
The company machines stainless steel pins. The pins are ground and polished to product a highly reflective surface. A bundle of pins gets installed into a master plate, which makes a copyof the pin, producing the reflective pattern. That becomes an insert to into an injection mold.
Krammen said Krieger Craftsmen bought the assets of a reflector mold company and created the J-Flex division.
