Williamsport, Pa. — The Society of Plastics Engineers' Thermoforming division has awarded its Bill Benjamin Memorial Scholarship to Haven Bontz, a junior at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport.
Bontz is studying for a bachelor's degree in plastics and polymer engineering technology. He expects to graduate in the fall of 2019. Since May 2017, he has held an internship with Consolidated Container Co. in Oil City, Pa., where he has carried out 5S workplace organizational plans and performed process validation.
Bontz has been invited to attend the 26th SPE Thermoforming Conference, Sept. 24-26 in Fort Worth, Texas. He will be recognized during the awards dinner Sept. 25, held at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
"Haven has demonstrated his passion for our industry through his ongoing internship and other activities," said Matt O'Hagan, who chairs the SPE Thermoforming division Student Activities Committee. "Supporting the next generation of thermoforming industry professionals is of paramount importance to the SPE Thermoforming division."
