Simplay3 Co., the two-year-old rotational molding company started by children's products maven Tom Murdough, has a new president: James Miller.
Miller became president of the Streetsboro, Ohio, company effective July 11, replacing Murdough in the post. Murdough will remain as CEO and adviser. Miller will be responsible for day-to-day operations.
Simplay3 in Streetsboro manufacturers children's playthings, including ride-on toys, and a line of mailboxes and home and garden products.
Miller and Murdough have worked together for 26 years, with Miller serving in chief financial officer posts.
"Since joining me in January 1992, at my previously owned company, Step2, Jim has been in a senior leadership role serving as executive vice president of finance and operations, as well as a trusted adviser," Murdough said. "I am confident that his strategic thinking capabilities, strong business acumen and outstanding relationship skills will be tremendous assets in this new role. The time has come for Jim to take the next step forward in his career and I couldn't be more pleased and supportive."
Murdough said the leadership succession plan "speaks to the long-standing management talent we have assembled within Simplay3."
"I am honored to be appointed to lead the Simplay3 brand," Miller said. "And I look forward to continuing to build upon Simplay3's unique 'family' culture and the value we provide to our customers and consumers around the world," Miller said.
Miller also serves as CFO of Simplay3. He also is CFO of Murdough Management Ltd., with fiscal operations responsibility for the First & Main shopping district in Hudson, Ohio. Miller also is executive director of the Murdough Foundation.
Before he joined Step2, Miller was employed by the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Co. in Cleveland. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Kent State University.
