The PetroChem Wire consulting firm has been acquired by Oil Price Information Service, a unit of global consulting firm IHS Markit.
The deal closed on Aug. 3. There will be no immediate changes to PCW's reports on prime and recycled plastic resins, olefins and natural gas liquids, officials with Houston-based PCW said on the firm's website.
PCW was founded in 2007 by Kathy Hall, who now serves as its executive editor. PCW produces five daily reports, four weekly reports and several monthly reports available by email and on several data platforms. The New York Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Mercantile Exchange use PCW data to establish prices for contracts for U.S. ethylene, propylene, polyethylene and polypropylene.
Prior to starting PCW, Hall spent more than 10 years as a commodity markets reporter, editor and manager at Platts.
OPIS tracks current and historical pricing for oil products across the entire fuel supply chain. Its commodity pricing includes gasoline, diesel, biofuels, NGL/LPG, natural gas, jet fuel and feedstocks. The Rockville, Md.-based firm was founded in 1977 and was acquired by IHS Markit in 2016.
IHS Markit's extensive holdings include a chemicals unit that covers markets for plastics and petrochemicals.
