Mexico City — Anipac, Mexico's plastics industry association, periodically organizes fairs across the country to "educate" the public on the correct use and recycling of plastics and to remind them of how the material benefits society.
The latest event was in Toluca, capital of the State of Mexico, Aug. 18 with the collaboration of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM).
A 200-year-old, publicly funded university just west of Mexico City, UAEM last year celebrated the 10th anniversary of its comprehensive bachelor's degree course in plastics engineering. It is the only such course in Mexico and it lasts five years.
About 500 people, most of them high school and college students, attended the fair, Anipac (Asociación Nacional de Industrias del Plástico AC) said in a news release.
