Don't underestimate the power of rotomolding

I was trolling through the Plastics News database recently, once again looking for a way to tell the data story of why our ranking of rotational molders has always intrigued me more than those for other processes.

I think it's because of the diligence of its players to obtain the most from their industry.

To illustrate this, I've pulled some statistics from the rankings we've published so far this year. The following shows fiscal year 2017 vs. 2007 in terms of sales and averages. I included the total ranked sales and the number of firms as well:

But far more interesting is looking at the processes side by side, up at the top of this page.

Thermoformers have seen the biggest gain in average sales per company, but rotational molders have seen the biggest gain for the mid-point of sales levels.

These processors have raised the level of the business market. Injection molding and extrusion get a lot of attention, but the powerhouse behind these statistics should not be overlooked. There must be a good deal of innovation and engineering smarts surrounding these processors to shine so well in a smaller industry, seen in numbers that are hiding just below the surface.
