Sun Plastech Inc., the maker of Asaclean-brand purging compounds, has named Joseph Serell as its new president.
The move was effective Sept. 1, officials with Parsippany, N.J.-based SPI said in a recent news release. Glenn Kornfeld had been the firm's president since 2004 and now will assume new responsibilities at Asahi Kasei Corp., SPI's corporate parent.
Serell joined SPI as national sales manager in 2004, and has served as vice president since 2008. After joining SPI, Serell "immersed himself in the product and quickly established himself as an expert in the field," officials said.
As vice president, Serell oversaw and promoted accelerated growth in sales, marketing and engineering. He also was instrumental in the acquisition of Novachem in 2015, officials said.
Serell has authored numerous articles in industry publications and routinely hosts webinars on purging compounds.
The Asaclean product line features mechanical and chemical grades that are optimized for injection molding, extrusion, profile/sheet, blow molding, and blown film applications.
Asahi Kasei of Tokyo is a major materials firm that employs 29,000 worldwide.
