Engel Holding GmbH will present new modular safety guarding at Fakuma 2018. The guarding is complaint with EN ISO 14120 safety standards.
The ISO standards include general requirements for the design and construction of fixed and movable guards, and that places even higher demands on the strength of protective guards than does the former standard, EN 953, according to Engel officials. The new standard defines load capacity, and the guarding must withstand a 90-kilogram sandbag (198 pounds).
Engel's new modular guarding meets the new standard and also gives processors flexibility. The modular design has an extensive selection of protective panels and accepts elements such as openings, control cabinets, cable conduits and revolving and sliding doors. Users can implement specific layouts in a cost-effective way, the company said.
In many cases, it takes only one person to assemble the safety guarding in a short period of time, Engel said.
To simplify maintenance and servicing, the electronics on the safety doors are no longer located on the door frame, but instead are in easily accessible door connection boxes.
