Global auto interiors specialist Grupo Antolin has consolidated its position in the world's largest car market with the launch of a new headliner plant in northeastern China.
Last month, Burgos, Spain-based Antolin marked the opening of the 125,000-square-meter unit in Shenyang which will turn out 4,000 headliners daily, chiefly for BMW AG.
Antolin's site will employ around 200 and serve BMW's local joint venture with Brilliance China Automotive Holdings, also in Shenyang, where the partnership runs two assembly plants.
Grupo Antolin said its presence in a China-Germany industrial park there will enable it to take advantage of future expansions.
Antolin's Shenyang plant is its second in the city since the Spanish group planted its production footprint in China in 2005, making headliners for Ford and Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co. (SVW).
The Spanish supplier is strengthening its industrial presence in the country where it now operates 14 production plants and 13 "just-in-time" sites with a workforce of more than 4,000.
