Another week, another new ePac Flexible Packaging LLC location. Or so it seems.
This time, the company plans to open a new location in Austin, Texas, early next year. The move will add to ePac's growing network of regional flexible packaging operations that rely on digital printing to serve short- and medium-run orders.
The company currently is operating in or has announced plans for sites in Middleton, Wis.; Boulder, Colo.; Chicago; Miami; Atlanta; Boston and Los Angeles. The Atlanta site was just announced in late October.
"This extended footprint, of all digital full-service flexible packaging plants across the United States, provides brands of all sizes the ability to introduce new products faster, run more promotions, make changes on the fly and order to demand," the company said in a statement.
Robert Laird will be general manager for ePac Austin and said in a statement that the overall company's corporate finance and marketing functions will be located in Austin as well.
The company launched in 2016 with its original Wisconsin site using the HP Indigo 20000 digital press as a backbone to its operations. Relying on digital printing allows for quicker order fulfillment and the ability to cater to shorter runs compared with other printing technologies, the company has said.
The company was founded by Jack Knott, Virag Patel and Carl Joachim and has since taken on partners as it expands throughout the country.
