California Republican Jeff Denham, owner of Denham Plastics LLC, has lost his bid to retain a U.S. House seat in a district that Hillary Clinton won in the 2016 presidential race.
A week after polls closed, the final tally in the central California 10th District shows Denham with 48.7 percent of the vote to Democrat Josh Harder's 51.3 percent.
The race was deemed too close to call until Nov. 13.
Denham was first elected to the House in 2010 but now becomes one of three GOP incumbents to lose their House seats in California. Another two races remain too close to call, according to The Associated Press.
Denham Plastics of Salinas, Calif., is a distributor of plastic totes and bulk containers, mostly to the agriculture industry.
Harder is a former venture capitalist who currently teaches business at Modesto Junior College.
