Resin distribution firm M. Holland Co. has added materials from polyolefins maker Borealis AG to its portfolio of product offerings.
Northbrook, Ill.-based M. Holland will distribute polyethylene and polypropylene resins, as well as polyolefin plastomers and elastomers and filled PP compounds for Vienna-based Borealis. The filled PP materials will be made at Borealis' new production site in Taylorsville, N.C.
The new agreement "supports both companies' strategy and focused approach for continued growth in target markets," officials said in a Dec. 10 news release.
"Our business development group … is ideally positioned to support Borealis' market strategies in North America," M. Holland President and CEO Ed Holland said in the release.
John Webster, head of indirect sales at Borealis, added that his firm "has a rigorous selection process for the appointment of its distributors … [and] concluded that M. Holland shares both our core values and our strategic direction."
Webster also said that, for Borealis, "delivering on our growth ambition in North America as well as in specific end-use markets is a priority."
Borealis employs 6,600 worldwide and has annual sales of around $8.5 billion. The firm is majority owned by Mubadala Investment Co. of Abu Dhabi.
M. Holland has annual sales of more than $1 billion, selling more than 1.4 billion pounds of resin per year from more than 20 material suppliers.
