Coca-Cola Co. has extended a loan to the Dutch company Ioniqa Technologies BV to accelerate the scale-up of Ioniqa's PET recycling process.
Eindhoven-based Ioniqa's proprietary technology converts hard-to-recycle PET waste like colored bottles into polymer building blocks that can be used to make virgin-quality resin. The company is building a 22 million-pound-per-year plant in Netherlands, scheduled for commissioning in 2019.
Atlanta-based Coke said the investment supports its “world without waste” goal, which includes using packaging made of at least 50 percent recycled material by 2030.
