TricorBraun is acquiring one company, combining it with existing operations and creating a new flexible packaging business.
The St. Louis-based packaging design and distribution company purchased Pacific Bag Inc., described by the company as "one of the largest independent U.S. distributors of flexible packaging."
Pacific Bag is joining with TricorBraun's Taipak flexibles business to create TricorBraun Flex.
This latest deal continues a flurry of acquisition activity for TricorBraun, which has made six deals in the last 18 months.
Taipak was one of those purchases in late 2017.
TricorBraun, which has a 117-year history, did not handle flexible packaging until that deal.
"The acquisition of Pacific Bag further bolsters our presence in the flexibles space, building on our highly successful acquisition of Taipak," CEO Court Carruthers said in a statement.
Pacific Bag brings more than 4,500 customers in more than 50 countries to TricorBraun. Key markets include coffee, pet food and specialty food. Products include side gusset bags, stand-up pouches, flat pouches, bulk packaging, roll stock, bag sealers, weighing and filling machines, and degassing valves.
TricorBraun Flex will operate out of locations in Vancouver, Seattle, Calgary, Toronto, and Philadelphia, the company said.
TricorBraun acquired Taipak in 13 months ago, representing the company's first move into flexible packaging in its 117-year history.
"Taipak was an important milestone for our business and in the 13 months since, the team has integrated seamlessly," Carruthers said in his statement.
TricorBraun operates out of more than 40 locations around the world to provide plastic and glass containers, closures, dispensers, tubes and flexibles.
