Materials firm Americhem Inc. is adding white room compounding space at its plant in Morrisville, Pa.
Construction on the white room is set to begin this summer. The facility also will include a design center to allow customers to work directly with technical experts to speed development, officials with Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based Americhem said in a news release.
"This expansion solidifies our commitment to the development and manufacturing of medical compounds," CEO Matthew Hellstern said.
Jim Figaniak, vice president and general manager of engineered compounds, added that the firm has a long history of providing medical manufacturers with customized material expertise that adheres to FDA and USP standards.
"These certifications help brand owners mitigate development risk during their regulatory approval process," Figaniak said.
Americhem produces a broad range of concentrates, compounds and additives at 11 sites worldwide and has annual sales of almost $300 million. The firm is one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers, according to Plastics News data.
During 2018, Americhem added an extrusion line for soft polymer compounding at its plant in Suzhou, China, and also acquired Indian materials firm Prescient Color Ltd. The Prescient deal was Americhem's fourth acquisition since 2013.
