Taiwanese thermoplastic polyurethane extruder DingZing Advanced Materials Inc. has entered the U.S. market by opening an 80,000-square-foot warehouse near its offices in Secaucus, N.J.
"They're the biggest urethane extruder in the world," said Jim Zauderer of Zauderer Associates Inc., DingZing's North American distributor since 2017. "They're very strong in Asia and very strong in Europe."
The 37-year-old Kaohsiung-based company has 60 extrusion lines in Taiwan, where it makes films, tubing, cord and profiles and injection molds urethane seals. It employs more than 700 in a 1 million-square-foot facility, and is expanding capacity in Taiwan, Zauderer said.
It is listed on the Taipei Exchange. For second quarter 2018, the company reported sales of TW$1.16 billion (US$37.6 million) and pretax profit of TW$33.4 million (US$1.08 million).
DingZing's TPU products include Provecta films that provide an alternative to rubber and traditional plastic; Advanta films, for breathable, waterproof clothing; Orkesta composites, which can replace microfiber or genuine leather in footwear and clothing; Perfola air hoses and hydration tubes; Aldura belts; and DingZing DZ seals.
Applications include automotive, breathable fabrics for sportswear and medical, Zauderer said in a phone interview.
"They're nimble," Zauderer said. "They can do everything American companies can do times two."
Besides Secaucus, DingZing has branch offices in China, Vietnam, the Netherlands and Taichung, Taiwan.
