Custom blow molder Chapin Custom Molding Inc. has signed a lease agreement for a facility in Elyria, Ohio, that allows the company to increase its storage and assembly space.
The 55,000-square-foot warehouse has two loading docks that can accommodate trucks up to 53 feet in length as well as two overhead doors for receiving and sending shipments, the company said in a Feb. 4 news release.
"The new warehouse increases what we can offer to our customers in terms of warehousing, storage and shipments," Brian Evertt, operations manager at Chapin Custom Molding, said in statement. "Customers can order products in advance, use it as an assembly point and store finished parts for future shipments."
Chapin Custom Molding is a subsidiary of Chapin International Inc., a Batavia, N.Y.-based manufacturer of compressed air sprayers and turf and salt spreaders. The company operates out of a roughly 80,000-square-foot facility in Elyria that was previously occupied by custom blow molder Quality Blow Molding Inc.
In July 2018, Plastics News reported that Chapin had purchased the fixed assets and real property of QBM. Chapin Custom Molding was formed as a result of the asset purchase agreement, which was finalized at the end of June.
The company purchased all of QBM's injection molding and blow molding equipment, totaling more than 30 blow molding machines and a couple injection molding presses.
Chapin Custom Molding manufacturers various plastic components for a diverse range of markets such as automotive, pet supplies, pool and spa, lawn and garden, and toys. The company has around 30 employees and ranks No. 94 on PN's annual listing of North American blow molders, with estimated sales of $7 million.
